Ministry: Russia's GDP growth accelerates to 5.4% in May

MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- Russia's gross domestic product (GDP) increase accelerated to 5.4% on the year in May from 3.4% in April, the Economic Development Ministry said in a report on Wednesday.

The GDP rose by 1.4% on the month in the period excluding seasonal factors.

In January–May, the economy added 0.6% on the year.

The ministry said that the economy was supported by the growth of the processing industry, wholesale trade and the construction sector.
